MIL/DO testing solutions for Teslab, Italy
In the heart of Italy’s military activities, we recently delivered a brand new chamber for Teslab that complies with MIL-STD-461 and DO-160 standards. Why a third chamber? Uliana Trucchi, Senior Technical Consultant at Comtest Engineering, states: “Teslab is a highly successful and fast-growing test facility, founded in Livorno, Tuscany, about thirty years ago by three brilliant men. One of them is Giorgio Romano, my primary contact during this project.
This 11-meter-high door in this video was designed and built for the European Space Agency – ESA in the Netherlands. This year, we are celebrating our 40th anniversary with eight highlights every five weeks until the end of the year.
Bas de Groot can clearly remember this particular project. Bas: “For me, the project for ESA in the video was why I decided to join the company full-time. What stood out to me most was the close collaboration with the ESA team—making the end result a true team effort. My father Hein, who briefly appears in the video, always taught Rik and me the importance of working closely with our customers. Nearly 25 years later, that spirit of collaboration is still at the core of our projects.
This particular project started in 2002, yet we continue to maintain the doors to this day. Recently, we upgraded the large door automation as part of ESA’s preventive maintenance strategy. Our journey in manufacturing shielding began in 1999—a major milestone for us. Having ESA-ESTEC as a reference gave us a warm introduction to the aerospace industry. A few years later, we took on an even bigger project with Thales Alenia Space in Ankara, Turkey.
It’s inspiring to see how long-term relationships and teamwork continue to shape our work. As a second-generation family business, we prioritise stakeholder value over shareholder value. Our commitment to quality, reliability, and collaboration is why we stand by our mission: Worry-Free Chambers.”
