A single-floor absorber set-up for radiated emissions AND radiated immunity instead of two different set-ups? Yes, that is exactly what we did for our client, Aesys, in Italy. They raised the need to optimise the space and the test setup time, so we started brainstorming about a solution that could still meet the requirements.

Laboratory Manager Marco Verzeroli from Aesys explains the solution: “Ferrites weigh up to 20 kilos each, are expensive, and take up a lot of space. Together with the team from Comtest Engineering, we set up an innovative and smart solution to use the same pyramidal floor absorbers for both sVSWR and Field Uniformity without using ferrite tiles. The result is a completely renewed and reinforced semi-anechoic chamber for fully compliant EMC and radio testing up to 40 GHz. In fact, this chamber’s NSA and VSWR performances are considerably below the limits set by the CISPR, so we are well-prepared for the future.”
