Clean hands at EMC Fest in Livonia (MI)

We were surprised by the feedback we got on our cleanliness proposition at EMC Fest in Livonia (MI) last week! “Some people came back to our table several times!” says our local sales representative in Michigan, Tony Oliverio. What happened?

Tony: “Introducing these new and clean absorbers Comtest launched with DMAS (Dutch Microwave Absorber Solutions) really takes off. Everybody in the industry knows those old absorbers are leaking particles after a few years and is surprised no company has come up with a better solution.”

The Southeastern Michigan IEEE EMC Society organised EMC Fest to provide their local EMC engineers and technicians with information related to topics such as Radiated Emission Troubleshooting Success and Radiated Immunity Failures.

“All the key persons in the industry were there”, says Tony. “During the breaks between sessions, they passed our table, where I handed out a few tiny bottles of hand sanitisers as a joke to help them out as long as they had to deal with the old-fashioned absorbers. They understood the issue and the joke, and it got me a few chuckles. Some people checked their hands after touching our absorbers, but I told them not to worry.”

An eye for perfection

According to our welding specialist Sebastiaan Koopmans, finishing an RF-shielded door requires special skills: “A regular household door fits into a wooden or metal frame. The ‘knives’ on our doors need to fit exactly into the copper ‘fingers’ of the door frame after welding the parts together. Therefore, they must be sharp but not too sharp to wear the copper fingers. Just like a good kitchen knife. I test the welding edges of the door knives manually but safely: when they feel smooth enough, they get my green light.”
