There is music in Bruges in Belgium

Some might think our technical consultant Marc Le Roy is performing at our booth at the EMC Europe 2024 Symposium in Bruges (Belgium) this week, but he can tell what is happening in the photo.

Marc: “During the welcome reception of the symposium, a Dixieland band performed straight in front of our booth; I am just a happy spectator in this case. However, after that, when the first visitors entered our booth, I had to perform our demos with the DMAS hybrid Absorbers for three days. And it was amazing to have so many interactions with such a diverse audience.”

“This symposium is unlike any other trade show: it’s a unique mix of students, professors and industry professionals, all joining to share knowledge. Sharing scientific knowledge helps the industry better prepare for future EMC challenges, such as automotive and military product designs. As a sales professional, I am delighted to see that so many people still need to meet in person, especially with the trend of post-COVID Teams meetings. As a matter of fact, after the opening event in the photo, there was a dinner event followed by an after-party with a DJ.”

About the symposium: the EMC Europe 2024 Symposium is poised to be a dynamic platform where leading experts, researchers, and practitioners will come together to share their latest findings, engage in vibrant discussions, and forge collaborations that will propel the field of Electromagnetic Compatibility forward. Through a carefully curated program featuring keynote speeches, technical sessions, workshops, and tutorials, the organization aims to explore the frontiers of EMC, covering a broad range of topics such as measurement techniques, computational electromagnetics, electromagnetic risk management, and more.

We thank the local organizing committee for organizing such a great symposium and Davy Pissoort for his efforts as the conference chair.

Upgrading an EMC chamber with new absorbers on old tiles

Can you upgrade an EMC chamber and keep the old, glued ferrite tiles? “It’s possible”, says Uliana Trucchi, one of our technical consultants. “Say you want to replace your old absorbers because you need to meet performances over 1GHz, and you wish to keep the ferrite tiles because they are glued to the chamber’s walls and ceiling. That is exactly what the people from Nemko in Germany asked us for the chamber upgrade in the photo.”

Our services include maintenance and validated testing. We recommend that both are executed by authorized personnel only. Our expert teams can perform preventive maintenance on RF-shielded doors, mode-stirrer systems, and positioning equipment such as turntables. We also offer validation services to see if your EMC test chamber or RF-shielded room still functions within its intended limits and avoiding unexpected down-time or product recalls at the same time.

A shielded room can perform conducted emission and immunity EMC measurements, eliminating harmful external influences, leading to more accurate and consistent test results. Being a Faraday cage, a shielded room will not only improve test results but will also form an excellent aid in protecting information and essential hardware. Comtest can assist governments, the military, financial institutions, and large corporations in protecting what matters most in critical situations. We offer the highest quality, sensitivity, and security before, during and after working with you.
