How to comply with local and international regulations
Successfully complying with both Mexican and international regulations to perform EMC testing on electronic equipment for telecommunications and automotive industries in a Semi-Anechoic Chamber (SAC) was the key challenge for the test house giant Intertek Latinoamérica & Caribbean in Mexico.

Solid preparation and a highly experienced installation team enable us to probably be the fastest company in the industry today. We talked to our Project Manager, Jan Van Der Zalm, about the secrets behind this success.
‘We take the preparation very seriously,’ says Jan. ‘We want to know every detail about the client’s venue: whether the floor has been levelled, if there is enough space for us to work, how we access the building, whether the designated area is prepared by the client, how the safety conditions are, and if there are any local instructions we should be aware of.
Do you always work with the same installation team?
Jan van der Zalm: ‘I prefer to, if possible. You know, our team of nine installation professionals has been with us for more than fifteen years. These guys are incredibly skilled and quick, partly because I send enough guys so they can be there for as short a time as possible. That’s good for the client and also saves us unnecessary overhead costs such as hotels.’
When can the clients use their new chambers?
Jan: ‘After completing and checking the installation, I take all the necessary time to hand over the test chamber to the client. I demonstrate how the doors and turntable work, show them that everything meets the design specifications, including the lamps and filters, and confirm that everything is functioning well. Once the client signs off, my colleague Peter or an independent test service provider will validate the chamber. For the installation team and me, there’s nothing more to do than to clean up, take the packaging with us, and let the client enjoy their new chamber.’
Are you worried that installing a new test chamber might disrupt your workplace? In that case, you really should speak with one of our technical consultants: Uliana Trucchi, Vincent van de Vrie, or Marc Le Roy.
