The Black Forest Testlab Journey
Behind this chamber lies an unexpected and remarkable story of courage and entrepreneurship that we really need to share with you. On June 1, 2024, two young and ambitious technicians in Germany, Josip Brkic and Francesco Iemma, moved into the building housing their company, Black Forest Testlab, with the fully compliant CISPR-16 Anechoic Chamber shown in the photo, which we built for them.

“Testing at 2,000 amperes will require a different kind of testing solution, which we have.” In a series of five posts, our specialists share trends and developments for 2026. This week, Uliana Trucchi, from our team of Technical Consultants, reveals our new solution for testing high-voltage fast chargers.
Uliana: “Earlier this year, we delivered a chamber with 1500V / 1000A filters, which at the time was already a new record for me. 1000A is tough on filters and connectors, and since then, I’ve seen a lot more of these testing requirements. Not just for hyperchargers like the ones they test in that chamber, but also for batteries in the automotive industry. And then we start talking about the 2,000 ampere limit.”
Does Comtest have filers and connectors for that?
Uliana: “The filters are not a problem. With our selected network of suppliers, we have already taken care of this. We focus on the additional safety requirements for chambers at these power levels. We need different connectors, and the ground planes need to be raised to accommodate thicker cables. The thing with these cables is that they are more rigid and less flexible. Over the past years, we have also discussed this solution with our network of suppliers, so we are prepared for this new wave of high-power testing.”
